About Birthing With Jane
Jacksonville, Florida
Long before Jane Szerba was working as a professional doula, she found herself obsessed with birth. Raised in Eastern Pennsylvania, she married a Naval Aviator in 1988 and prepared for a life filled with travel. She had her first child in 1990, her second in 1992, and her third in 1995. Her family, now complete, settled down in Jacksonville, Florida, and immediately fell in love!
With a life in constant motion, she had all three of her kids in different military hospitals while bonding with other moms. She fell in love with the way moms took care of their babies, first nourishing them in their growing bellies and then breastfeeding them once they arrived. She worked alongside her friends, encouraging them from those first weeks of pregnancy and then helping them through the precarious fourth trimester.
Eventually, she decided it was time to do this professionally! She retired from her job as an elementary school teacher in 2017 and started her professional teaching. These days, she is a Certified Doula, a Hypnobabies Childbirth instructor, and a Hypnobabies Childbirth Hypnosis Instructor. On top of helping families all across Jacksonville, she has gotten the chance to support her own daughter as she welcomed her second grandchild. This is the work she’s passionate about doing, and she can’t wait to love your family like her own!
Services
One of Jane’s primary jobs is working as a birth doula. She offers care for families in North East Florida, including Jacksonville, Orange Park, St. Augustine, and Middleburg. She is also able to support parents in home births, the Fruitful Birth Center, and at hospitals across the area (you can find her comprehensive list over at her website). Essentially, no matter what you have in mind for your delivery, Jane is ready to support you!
When you start out, you will be able to schedule a free meet and greet. During this consultation, Jane is going to get to know everything there is to know about your wonderful family. She can chat about your birth plan and tell you about her offerings so you can decide if her style is right for you!
If it is a perfect match, you will be able to choose between standard doula support and hypno-doula support. With the first option, Jane is going to be your bestie throughout your entire pregnancy. You will have two comprehensive visits before your birth, where you will work through your plan together. While Jane can’t provide you with medical support, she is going to be there for you for pretty much everything else. She is going to be there to hype you up, give you advice, and make sure you have the information you need for your perfect delivery! In addition to the in-person appointments, she is going to provide you with continuous phone support so you can ask her questions right when you need them. She is going to be the one to walk you through all those mini-panic attacks as you head toward your labor!
Labor And Beyond
Once your labor starts, she is going to be right there by your side. Jane is going to be your biggest advocate, helping you stick to your birth plan while making sure your providers listen to you. She is going to help you with pain management techniques while also coaching your support person. Then, once your baby arrives, she is going to stick around for up to two hours following your birth and can coach you through breastfeeding. She is also going to provide you with a postpartum visit.
For those who would prefer her hypno-doula support, she is going to provide you with all of this support while also incorporating Hypnobirthing prep into your care. Additionally, she is going to add in a Hypnobabies Birth Rehearsal Session so you can be sure you feel fully prepared!
Specialty
On top of offering doula care, Jane can provide you with classes that will get you ready for your water birth! Her Hypnobabies class is a local favorite. She offers in-person group sessions that will teach you everything you need to know ahead of your labor. This is going to run for six weeks and give you a comprehensive overview of how to use water to get you through your labor. If in-person classes don’t work around your schedule, she offers this session fully online with live sessions that last 3.5 hours each week. She additionally offers an awfully private hypnobabies class you will be able to complete alongside your partner. With this option, you will receive fully personalized instruction to get you ready. Just like with her standard classes, this class will run for six weeks and include all the material on top of 21 hours of instruction.
For those who want her guidance but prefer to do things on their own terms, you can try out a home study advantage class. With this, you will have one three-hour private class that can still help you feel ready for your delivery.
